Chosen Foods Infused Avocado Oil Spray
Packaging design for a nine-SKU exotic avocado oil cooking spray line launching in 2018
The Challenge
Chosen Foods needed packaging for the launch of their Infused Avocado Oil Spray line, including nine SKUs across two flavor families: six savory exotic spice flavors and three holiday sweet flavors. Designed for health-conscious home cooks who already understood the benefits of cooking with avocado oil, the line needed to do two things at once: give each flavor its own distinct visual identity and hold together as a cohesive system across a bilingual global market. Generic would not cut it at Expo West or on shelf, and the design needed to work as hard in Europe and internationally as it did domestically.
The Work
Mindsy began by testing the product itself and experiencing what each flavor evoked before a single color was chosen. The insight driving the entire design system was emotion before information. Each SKU received a color profile selected specifically for the feeling it would create in the shopper before she read a single word, making the design a hidden sales agent on the shelf rather than a label carrying a list. A purposeful iconography system was developed to communicate the functional use of each product while remaining visually cohesive across all nine SKUs and fully legible in bilingual markets for global distribution. Clean typography grounded the system while the color palette and iconography did the persuasive work, which was specific, appetizing, and immediately understood regardless of language.

The Shift
The Infused Avocado Oil Spray line launched successfully and is now sold internationally and in national retailers, including Whole Foods, Sprouts, Amazon, and Costco. The packaging stood out on the shelf and online, driving emotional appeal through a design system that made exotic flavors feel both accessible and exciting. The work was recognized by World Packaging Design, one of the most prestigious packaging design honors in the industry.
